Storing Your Vegetables
For years I would put all my vegetables in those grocery baggies, the ones you use to select your veggies at the market or veggie/fruit stand, and I would come home and stick them in the drawers in those plastic bags. Then they would get all moldy and gross before the week was up. BUT NOW, that is not a problem anymore!!!! A friend who is an organic chef, taught me the BEST Trick in 2012, and I am sharing it with YOU today!
Easy, fresh way to store your vegetables, this is what I do:
When I go buy my veggies now, I just put my vegetables in my basket without putting them in individual baggies, I grab that small carry basket and stick that in my cart and load up all the veggies in that.. NO NEED for the baggies ever again!
When I get home, I open my vegetable drawers in my refrigerator, and make sure there is a DRY cloth lining BOTTOM of the drawer. This can be any clean kitchen towel or hand towel.
Next, load the drawers with your vegetables.
Then take another kitchen towel or hand towel and soak it completely AND RING it out.
Now put this damp towel on top of all the veggies, covering them. And Voila! You have stored your veggies where they can breath and stay moist. Just like they do it at the markets by putting them in refrigerated areas, letting them breath and misting them with water throughout the day keeping them moist.
I use most of these veggies each week for my morning juicing I am addicted to.. This by far is ONE of the BEST Kitchen storing tricks I have EVER learned! TRY IT! YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!!
